One of the great things I love about Vietnam is the accessibility in getting around. The Saigon Waterbus sits on the Saigon river and connects 7 pier locations along the 11km route. It operates 7 days a week and is very affordable.
We primarily went on the Saigon Waterbus as something to do. There are many tour companies operating on the river but we wanted a more local experience which comes at less cost.
The main route runs along the Saigon River and passes through Bach Dang Warf, Linh Dong Station, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc.
The pier locations are:
- Bach Dang Warf
- Saigon Pearl
- Thao Dien
- Binh An
- Linh Dong
The cost: 15,000 VND for one way.
Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours can change.
You can book online or get a ticket at the counter at each pier.
Note: There is no wheelchair accessibility. This was disappointing to see as Vietnam seems to lack this everywhere.
As you can see in the video, the views are amazing. The Saigon river is one of the most iconic rivers in Southeast Asia. You will see beautiful city views of Ho Chi Minh and go under the many well known bridges. I highly recommend going at night. Most of the seating is available inside the cabin but you can sit outside on the back of the boat
On final note, they also sell snacks and beverages on the boat so be sure to bring some cash. The weather here is also very hot, I recommend going in the morning or after 5p.m. as the sun on the water can be difficult if you ever boated before.
The photos and videos are from my experience. Enjoy.
